OVERPASS BUS STOP

The Mission
Tasked beneath a highway overpass, we were asked to design a bus stop with an active twist. As part of my site analysis, I noticed frequent joggers who passed by the sidewalk of our existing bus stop. Taking this observation for inspiration, I created a bus stop that not only expands on the seating variability, but now gives passing joggers an inclining challenge, and waiting bus-riders a curious staircase to interact with.
Design Choices
Cast Iron plants are ideal for a place like this underpass;Â doing well in low-lighting conditions, and with tough leaves that can endure being near pedestrian & vehicular traffic. The use of brick paving (an existing site material)Â highlights the three main spaces of user experience: running on the stairs, waiting on the bench, and boarding the arrived bus.
